As a medical doctor who had been suffering with fibromyalgia for 15 years, I had all but given up hope of finding a cure for my chronic pain. What a journey it had been! It took me months to finally make an appointment with Jason Roets. I honestly did not know what to expect and was fairly negative towards physiotherapists, because of previous bad experiences. What made it even more difficult was the fact that I stay in Northcliff, Johannesburg. Yet this nagging little voice kept telling me to give it a try.

I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 2010. It felt like I had lost my life due to the chronic pain I was in. I was no longer active like I used to be, I was tired and depressed. I was living on pain killers and gained 20 kg. The first few sessions were hectic, and I even told Jason I dislike him for 2 days after every session because of the soreness and bruising. Fortunately, I liked him enough again to return, and that I did. I pushed through for 12 whole sessions. Not only did I survive, but I had the best holiday of my life when we as a family went to Stellenbosch in December. I walked for miles on end, no pain. I managed to do a couple of hills as well, still no pain. When in the Cape, you can expect all four seasons in one day, and we definitely experienced it, still no pain. I could not wait to get back and tell Jason my good news! My last session was a celebration of my wellness. Besides the fact that his treatment works, he gets you through the tougher sessions. Interesting conversations, really lame jokes and some more interesting conversations got me through it all. I cannot put into words how thankful I am to The Pain Centre (who convinced me to take the first step) for their support and help. Making a commitment to drive to Centurion once a week for me was the best decision I ever made. Jason Roets is the best.
