Hello!
Today I want to tell you all about the recent study looking at people suffering from daily headaches. All these findings fit right in with what we experience with all the people that come to see us for their headaches.
This study looked at 328 people who suffer from headaches every day.
They found that the average age of the person when they started was forty.
66% of those suffering were women.
Almost 80 % were diagnosed with migraine headaches but only 68 were diagnosed with tension-type headaches.
Most of the cases of daily persistent headaches were moderate to severe.
Most of those suffering from these types of headaches only sought help after 8 months of it starting. OF those that have sought medical help, their last consult was 1.7 years ago.
Almost a third of the migraine type had episodic migraines before they become daily persistent headaches.
The most common symptoms across all those suffering included
- Noise sensitivity (71% of these patients
- Light sensitivity (72%)
- Moderate pain at the time of consult (58%)
- Nausea was reported in just less than half of patients
The top factors the patients said led to the headaches were
- Stressful life events
- Flu-like illness
- Fascial or skull surgery
This is what made their headaches worse
- Stress
- Bright lights
- Loud noise
- Lack of sleep
Does this sound like your headache?
Jason
